Wieda is a little-known idyll for hiking fans in search of peace and tranquillity, and a convenient starting point for trips around the Harz.

Holidaymakers need only step out of the front door to find hiking trails that meander for miles through picturesque mixed woodland, across meadows, past bubbling brooks, and via plenty of checkpoints where walkers can stamp their Wandernadel hiking passes. This unique cultural landscape also includes the unspoilt nature along the paths that once marked the border between East and West Germany.
